Goodbye Betty . . . Hello Iron Fist

We bought a car!! Sean's car Betty was starting to have frequent hiccups so we wanted to buy a car before she kicked the can. Towards the end of January we found a 2006 Honda civic for sale. We went and looked at it, and it seemed great! The interior was perfect, the outside had a few flaws, and it drove great! So we took it. . . little did we know what was to come two weeks later. Our new car had a cracked engine block whoo hoo!!! Supposedly when you have a cracked engine you can't just fix the crack . . but have to get an entire new engine. Doesn't that just sound like fun? We took it to the dealer and they said oh yeah its a manufacture defect so we can replace it for free. That was a relief. . . for about 2 seconds. They saw that it had a salvage title and said all the warranties were void. Even if it was just in a bumper to bumper like ours was. All i can say is thank goodness for my dad who is a pro at finding good deals. He found a 2010 engine that only had 13000 miles on it for $1400 dollars. We bought that and a few weeks later my dad was in town to put the new engine in. Once again thank goodness for a dad who knows cars. It was a pretty big project but they got it done and it ran great. . . . UNTIL. . . we had a leak in the fuel tank. We were getting gas and it went everywhere. My dad wasn't in town anymore so we took it to my cousin's cousin to check it out. They had to replace something something that i don't know the name of to get it fixed! walllaaa back to normal. It was all fixed. . . UNTIL. . . we were on our way to Bear Lake driving up parley's canyon when the speedometer started to go crazy and the car was jolting back and forth. . . the speed sensors went out. Meaning the car doesn't know when to shift so it goes all over the place. We are in the process of getting that fixed right now so we'll see how it goes. All in all. . . this car has been a headache, money pit, and frustrating. But Sean and I feel so blessed that we were/are able to financially pay for all it has cost us. We are grateful for my dad who knows cars and saved us probably 5000 to fix it rather than a dealer. We are thankful for the lessons we have learned on buying a car, and you can never be too careful. Once this is all said and done we are going to have a great car that will hopefully last us forever. Keep your fingers crossed!!

That's the crash from the previous owner
