LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!

And oh boy did it snow!!  Last Tuesday, Sean's work sent him home early because supposedly a huge "Blizzard" was going to hit around 4ish!  However, "it" didn't seem to show up until around 6 or 7.  The snow didn't seem to be that bad so Sean and I decided to make a quick trip to walmart to get some necessities. . . (Milk and Bread?)  If any of you know or have seen Sean's car (Betty the Blue Beast)  she doesn't handle snow very well. . . or sometimes even rain believe it or not.  But i had faith in her and so did Sean so off we went to walmart.  Bad idea! Bad idea! Sean and I live on a side of a Mountain which = a TON of Hills!  Going down was fine. . .But that was the least of my worries coming back up is what i was worried about.  As we were leaving Walmart (snow had gotten worse) Sean and i were praying and praying Betty would be able to conquer those nasty hills. . . and by golly. . . she really is a beast, she made it up 2 of the 3 hills.  Just the street we live on she struggled with.  She made it up more than halfway before she started to slip out, gravity started taking its toll pulling Betty down and down.  I got out of the car to sweep off the windows so Sean could kinda see while we were going down hill.  We got to the bottom of the hill and decided to just park the car on the side of the road until the roads were clear in the morning.  Sean did not want to just leave her down there, so he went back down to try again.  When he went to turn the car on. . . Betty didn't start.  The battery was dead. . . luckily we have very very kind neighbors!  The neighbor jump started the car and on she went.  Right after this happened a Snow Plow Guy went down our street. . . open road for Betty!  She made it safely home. . . Thank Goodness!  Oh but wait. . . there's more! (Billy May's Voice)  Remember when i got out of the car to scrape of the windows?  well my keys to MY car were on my lap. . . didn't know this, got out of the car, didn't hear them fall on the ground (duh. . .the SNOW) Sean asked where my keys were . . . course i had no clue.  Then it hit him. . . he set them on my lap when we left walmart and they must have fallen in the snow when i got out. Ah great!  Back in the snow we go!  We looked and looked and looked and looked. . NOTHING!  once again thanks to very very nice neighbors they saw us searching for something and gladly chipped in.  A good 15 minutes went by and still nothing.  Sean went back up to check the car one more time, and WALAAAAA our neighbor spotted them by the wheel of his truck!  It was seriously trying to find a needle in a haystack.  I couldn't believe it!  Now, question is was all this worth it for a gallon of milk and loaf of bread?  UMM . . not necessarily!  But boy what an experience we had.  Sean and I had multiple prayers answered, we got to know our very very kind neighbors, and we found out Betty is shockingly capable of more than what we thought she could handle!

Betty had no idea what she was in for. .

Doesn't look that bad. . . Right?

much needed hot cocoa after that adventure

  1. Nice newsy post. Booke, you have a superb gift for writing ... and telling a story. Glad all worked out. Simple prayers can make a BIG difference, and I'm sad that some don't take advantage of such "prayerpower" and unthinkingly think Heavenly Father should only be asked to help with big stuff. Thanks for sharing.
